ERIC SAGE 3.8.23

Eric's Journey

Eric began playing tennis at the age of five. He was also a child actor, where he achieved many accolades in both fields. From age 8 to 12 he was the voice of the “Little Green Sprout” in the Jolly Green Giant commercials. At 14 Sage became the #1 junior tennis player in Canada. He left home to train in Florida with world-renowned tennis coach Nick Bollettieri, (Andre Agassi, Jim Courier) and then to California to train with Robert Lansdorp. (Pete Sampras, Lindsay Davenport). Eric went on to receive a tennis scholarship to San Diego State University and played for the Aztecs. He then traveled the globe as a world-ranked tennis professional alongside the likes of Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, and Stephen Edberg. At age 23 Eric was the passenger in a horrible car accident. This ended his lifetime of work and career as a professional tennis player. He went on to become the “Tennis Teacher To The Stars”. He founded the Los Angeles Tennis Academy and was the tennis director at the famous Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. During these years he also worked as an actor. Eric played the now infamous “NO Stairway to Heaven” guitar salesman in the movie “Wayne’s World”, as well as many other recognizable roles. However, “I had always had a secret dream to be a professional singer, pianist, and composer.” When the experts in their respective fields told him it was too late, Eric decided at age 24, “This is my life and no one can tell me what I’m able to accomplish until I am done trying.”

Ultimately, he spent the next twelve years teaching tennis eight hours a day while studying music five hours deep into every night. During this transformational time, he developed the 1 Thru 10 System. It is a simple yet revolutionary concept that will change the game of tennis.

After 18 years of tennis competition, Eric achieved an extraordinary career transformation by becoming a professional musician; performing concerts around the globe. He studied voice with Seth Riggs (Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Josh Groban) and piano with Jazz great Terry Trotter (Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion). Eric has gone on to have an amazing music career working with many multi-platinum acts such as Slash of Guns ‘n’ Roses, Vince Neil of Motley Crue, The Bay City Rollers: featuring Ian Mitchell, and The Beach Boys. Eric has released three CDs of his original music and is currently headlining at festivals, theatres,  and concert halls across the world.

Eric is not only a master tennis teacher, he also utilizes sports psychology with professional athletes, has been on the HEAD Penn Racquet Sports Advisory Staff for 13 years, is a successful motivational speaker, and was involved in the Make-A-Wish foundation.
